Woma Python

Our Woma Python

Scovill Zoo has 1 woma python (Aspidites ramsayi).  It's name is Dundee.  Dundee was purchased from a private breeder.  He is approximately two years old. 

Woma Python Size
A typical woma python will grow to be 4 to 5 feet long.  The longest is about 7 feet. Their weight can range from 2 to 11 pounds.   

Woma Python Life Span
The woma pythons life span is about 20 years. 

Woma Python Housing

Woma pythons are native to Australia.  They live in the shrub lands, woodlands, and grasslands of Queensland and Central and Western Australia.  In captivity, they live in aquariums that mimic their natural environment. 

Woma Python Food

Woma pythons prefer a diet that consists of small mammals and birds.  They also eat other snakes. 

Woma Python Lighting & Temperature Requirements

Woma pythons prefer a temperature that is between 78 to 85 degrees with a hot spot of 90 degrees.  They also prefer the humidity in their enclosure to be between 50 and 70 percent. 

Woma Python Substrate

Woma python enclosure needs to be kept at a constant temperature.  Aspen, auboise, or megazorb can be used to line the bottom of the enclosure.  They need a water bowl that is big enough for them to submerge their bodies in.  Rocks and small limbs can be included so that the snake can climb or lay on the rock.
