Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink

Our Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink

At Scovill Zoo we have two Red-Eyed Crocodile Skinks, Toothless (boy) and Smokey (girl) they are both two years old. They came to Scovill Zoo from a private breeder.

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink Size

Juvenile red-eyed crocodile skins are around 2.5 inches long. As adults they can grow to be 8 inches from their tail to their nose. They have an average weight of 36 to 45 grams.

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink Life Span

On an average they have a life span of 5 to 6 years in captivity. However, there has been a record of one living 12 years.

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink Housing

It is recommended that they live in a terrarium that can handle high humidity. Two males can't live together because they will fight.

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink Food

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skinks live on insects. Their typical diets are crickets, locusts, wax worms, and mealworms.

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink Lighting & Temperature Requirements

The temperature should be around 85 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 72 degrees Fahrenheit at night.

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skink Substrate

The aquarium should contain some type of material that would hold moisture such as bark. There should be some climbing areas.
