Our Rhinoceros Iguana

Hello my name is Tallula. I am a female. I came from The National Mississippi River Museum and am now lucky enough to live here at Scovill Zoo.


Rhinoceros Iguana Size

The Rhinoceros iguana is about 2-4 feet long. The Rhino iguana usually grows to be about 2-4 feet long. The world record is 6 feet long.

Rhinoceros Iguana Life Span

The Rhinoceros iguana lives up to 10-20 years in captivity. Rhinoceros iguanas can live about 10-15 years in the wild.

Rhinoceros Iguana Lighting & Temperature Requirements

Primary lamps will work for rhinoceros iguanas. The temperature is about 70-80 degrees.

Rhinoceros Iguana Food

Rhinoceros iguanas eat land creatures like crab, snakes and lizards. They also eat leaves, insects, eggs and carrion.

Rhinoceros Iguana Housing

Rhinoceros iguanas have humid habitats.You may have to mist their cage a few times a week. 
Rhinoceros iguanas can also be found on the island of Hispaniola.

Rhinoceros Iguana Substrate

Rhino iguanas substrates are usually rocks, wood chips and they sometimes rub against dirt.
