Our Ornate Horned Frogs

Scovill Zoo has two wonderful ornate horned frogs. They have Dirty Dunkin and a new frog that has not been named.

Ornate Horned Frog Size

Females generally reach up to 6 inches in length and width. A male's average is about 3 inches.

Ornate Horned Frog Life Span

The life span of an ornate horned frog in the wild varies between 1 and 4 years. In captivity, as pets, depending on it's diet, they may live 6 to 10 years longer.

Ornate Horned Frog Housing

They can live in a 10 gallon aquarium.

Ornate Horned Frog Food

Ornate horned frogs normally eat mealworms, wax worms, silkworms, feeder fish, path worms, roaches, tweezers, & crickets.

Ornate Horned Frog Lighting & Temperature Requirements 

Temperatures should be maintained between 75 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ornate Horned Frog Substrate

Ornate horned frogs absorb moisture through their skin. For their substrate they need a shallow bowl of Chlorine-free water.
